We took Nick in for the results of his MRI today and everything came back normal. The doctor said he needs to ride a stationary bike and do elliptical training 3-5 times a week and his right knee will be as good as new in no time at all. What a blessing that he doesn't need surgery! The doctor also said he is cleared for snowboarding, the only thing he can't do right now is play football. We'll see about next season but it sounds like he will be okay to play then.
It's been a rough and tumble year for the Heaton's but the snow is falling and this year opening day at Bogus is going to be unlike any other, if you are here I hope you can join us, it's going to be one fantastic party on the mountain, details to follow as the date gets closer!

Happy October!
Wow, a lot has happened since my last post. I'll start where I left off and try to keep this short.
My stay in the hospital back in July showed that I don't have Epilepsy praise God! However my doctor explained that my seizure disorder is called Physiological Non Epileptic Seizures brought on by migraine. I've had migraine headaches it seems my whole life and my body is finding a new way of dealing with the pain. I also learned that migraine is a disease and a headache is a symptom, interesting stuff. SO very long complicated story short, started new medication that treats both seizures and migraines and have been seizure free for 2 months now. :-)
During this whole trying to figure out what was wrong with me thing something else happened, I woke up one morning the 2nd week in July and felt like I'd slept wrong and my right side hurt. Well after a few days I couldn't turn my head so I went to my regular doctor she started me on physical therapy thinking it was just a tight muscle, and so began the month I don't remember very well. August was a month full of debilitating pain, days spent when even my own doctor and neurologists would send me to the ER for pain management, meaning shots of morphine and anti nausea medication. Finally we discovered I had ruptured my C6 & C7 disks in my neck and I had surgery on Sept. 8 to fuse them together. I still have some pain, but am off of the Oxycontin, Percocet, and Valium, thank God because that stuff was awful!
Tomorrow I will see my neurosurgeon and will probably start physical therapy next week, he assured me I would be skiing opening day and I'm holding both of us to it!
I still can't drive, I see my seizure neurologist on 10/21 and my regular neurologist sometime this month too. They all 3 have to release me to go back to work on 10/26, but I don't see any problems with that.
Oh my goodness that is enough about me!
Today we took Nick in for an MRI on his left knee, he is having the same pain as his right knee did before surgery. His doctor isn't surprised, he was born with a blob shaped meniscus and if one has a problem chances are the other will. We will find out the results Monday. He also signed up for drivers training yesterday. He is going to take it through the school instead of private like Josh did, so we aren't sure when he will start. There were about 100 kids in front of him at 6am when they had to be there to get on the list, crazy!
Alyssa just turned 14 last Friday! She is really an amazing young lady and was like my right hand all summer long! Tuesday she had her braces put on and when we asked how long will she have them they said until she is about 16, I'm not even ready to go there yet! Gymnastics for her is like breathing and she is working really hard to join the team when it starts next spring.
Josh is doing great in school and has mastered driving a stick shift. He's applying for a job at Bogus and is ready for snowboarding. It will be such a great day for him to get back on the mountain, Jason & I are almost as excited for him as he is.
This brings be to Jason, or should I call him Super Man! He is the most amazing husband a girl could ask for. With everything that happened this summer he took care of me and everything I usually do at home, the kids, his job, working at the cabin, and all without losing it! I know I wasn't always easy to live with, but he made sure things were easy for me. He truly is a blessing.
So much for keeping this short, but that's what's been going on these last few months.
I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers, I don't think we've ever quite had a season like this, but it was only a season and God got us through it, He will never give us more than we can handle.
Love, Vicki
